Obituary

James McKusker was born in Ireland and died at his home near Ladora, January 15, 1914, after an illness of but six days. His age was 83 years. He was married to Ann Mumby, of Commoners, Clinton county, Iowa in March 1856. In May 1857, they came to Iowa county, where they have since lived. To them were born eight children, one having preceded the father to the [inv]isible world. He also leaves thirty-six grand children and twenty great grand children and many friends to mourn his departure.
Mr. MacKusker [sic] came to this country a fatherless boy of three years. He toiled hard, faced the difficulties of a new country with a brave [hea]rt and succeeded. He was an af[fecti]onate husband, a kind father, a minister to the sick and suffering and a friend to the needy. He was a Roman Catholic by birth and training, yet remarkably broad minded and tolerant, and believed that Christ's church embraced all those who loved and served the Master.
- Ladora Leger.
