Ronald Stanley “Stan” Netser, 77 of Iowa City died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Greenwood Manor in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2008, at Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service in Iowa City. Burial with military honors will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Visitation will be from 2 to 6pm Sunday at the funeral home. Instead of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Stan’s memory. Online condolences may be sent for his family through the web @www.gayandciha.com. Ronald Stanley Netser was born May 23, 1930, in North English, IA the son of Ira and Ethel (Glantz) Netser. He married Anne Hawkins on October 27, 1959, in Moline, Illinois. During the Korean Conflict Stan served in the United States Army. For over thirty-one years he worked as a cook at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital before retiring. Stan’s family includes his daughter, Cindy Calcote and her husband, Scott of Iowa City; sons, Ron Netser, Jr. and his wife, Sharon, and Ed Netser all of Iowa City; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, sister, Ruth VerWaayen of Iowa City. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter, Barb; son, Ernie; brothers, Jim and Donald Netser; sisters, Gladys Embree, Nona Nordyke, and JoAnn Johnson. Gay & Ciha Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for Ronald’s family and his services.
