NORTH ENGLISH - Lee R. Garringer, 46, of Prairie Village, Kan., passed away Monday, April 7, 2008, at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center, surrounded by his family and friends. A memorial mass in celebration of Lee's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 7231 Mission Rd., Prairie Village, Kan., with burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kan., to follow. Lee was born May 11, 1961, in North English, Iowa. He graduated from English Valleys High School in 1979 and the University of Northern Iowa in 1984. Lee and his wife Patti met while both were working in Colorado and married in 1985. Together they had three beautiful children of whom Lee was so proud, Holly, Katy and Michael. Lee loved nothing more than spending time with his family and friends, whether camping, skiing, boating, cooking out, cheering on the Royals, Chiefs and Jayhawks, or rocking out to Bruce Springsteen. He worked hard but played harder and always had time and a friendly smile for all. His warmth and joy for life will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved him.

Lee was preceded in death by his father, John Francis Garringer; and sister, Rita Garringer Douglas.

Lee is survived by his wife, Patti; daughters, Holly and Katy; son, Michael; mother, Etheldene Garringer Abbott and her husband, Tom; sister, Jacki; brothers, Lou, Chip and wife Gene, Tom and wife Lisa, and Gary; mother- and father-in-law, Kay and Ed Dolson; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mike and Lisa Dolson and Jennifer and Dave Orvis; numerous nieces and nephews; and more friends than can be counted.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Children's Mercy Hospital in memory of Lee's great love for children.
