Homestead- Adella Lourine Brockshus, was born January 28, 1914, in York Township, near Williamsburg, Iowa, the daughter of John H. and Maria D. (Baack) Schwarting. She attended Trinity Lutheran School in Conroy. On February 13, 1938 she was united in marriage to Paul Brockshus at Trinity Lutheran Parsonage in Conroy. She lived in rural Homestead all of her life where she was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, baking and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Adella died on Sunday, March 2, 2008, at the Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo after a brief illness. She lived. 94 years, 1 month and 3 days. She is survived by 2 daughters: LaVonne Brockshus of Coralville and Janice (Jim) Cerveny of Swisher; 2 grandchildren: Ann (Dan) Parsons of Wilton and Darren (Kristy) Cerveny of Moscow, Iowa; 4 great grandchildren: Karen & Corey Parsons and Ryan & Amira Cerveny; 2 sisters-in-law: Luella Brockshus and Vera Brockshus both of Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; 3 sisters: Ida Halverson, Esther Stanerson and Edna Brockshus; 4 brothers: Vernon, Edmond, Bill and an infant Arnold; and a step sister Adele Maas. Celebration of Life Service will be 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Homestead. Pastor Wayne Woolery will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 3-7 PM on Tuesday, at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Memorials are for the Lutheran Interparish School.
