Mrs. Lena Rumple Died Saturday; Funeral Monday.
Mrs. Lena Rumple became ill Saturday, June 23, 1962, and was rushed to the Marengo Memorial Hospital, but was dead upon arrival. She was 76.
Funeral services were Monday at the Hoover Funeral home with Dr. Robert Robinson officiating. Interment was at Genoa Bluff cemetery.
Music was by Mrs. Maude Bishop and Mrs. Donna Johnes with Mrs. R.R. Hibbs, organist.
Mrs. Robert Koch & Mrs. Everett Davies cared for flowers.
Paullbearers were Everette Davies, Fred Doty, John Haas, Ernest Hunzelman, John Gahring and Garth Bigbee.
Lena Louise Rumple, the daughter of James E. and Eva Ann Nelson Bigbee, was born Sept. 29, 1884 in Iowa County. On Dec 25, 1906 she was married to Charles Daniel Rumple.
They had two children, Mrs. Ralph (Norma) Supplee of Seal beach, Calif. and Maxine of Marengo. Also surviving are nephews, Elmer Panknen, who lived with the Rumples since he was three days old and Eugene Pratt, who lived with the Rumples nine years; a sister, Lydia Bigbee of Marengo; three grandchildren; six great grandchildren.
Her husband, parents, five sisters and three brothers preceed her in death.
She attended North Pilot school and was received into membership in the Marengo Methodist church Sept 29, 1946, transferring from the Congresgational church of Genoa Bluff where she belonged for many years.
She was a member of WSCS and the Sunday school.
The Rumples lived on a farm until they moved to Marengo in the fall of 1946.
