Sandra Jo Strouse, 49, of Bedford, Texas, formerly of Williamsburg, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, at her home in Bedford following a yearlong battle with cancer. Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home in Williamsburg. Burial: St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Sandra was born March 3, 1958, in Marengo, Iowa, to Edward and Edna (Doehrmann) Stangland, and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1976. On Aug. 13, 1983, she married Robert Strouse at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Williamsburg. The couple lived in Texas, where Sandra managed a bookstore and worked at an oncology clinic. She enjoyed her cats, reading and doing family genealogical research.
Survivors include her husband, Robert, and son, Tyler Strouse, both of Bedford, Texas; her mother, Edna Stangland of Williamsburg; one sister, Carol Green and husband David of Waubeek, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Stangland; and brother, Kenneth Stangland.
A memorial fund has been established for Cancer Care Services in Texas.
