Williamsburg-Alta Marie Lillis was born July 26, 1919 near Millersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Theresia (Kelly) McDonald. She graduated from Millersburg High School. Alta was united in marriage to Thomas Lillis on October 31, 1944 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamsburg. She worked as a homemaker along with various employments. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Alta died Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the Colonial Manor in Amana after a brief illness at the age of 87 years. She is survived by her children: Charles (Bonnie) Lillis of Marion, Gary Lillis of North Liberty and Susan Williams (Tim Kleinmeyer) of West Amana; four grandchildren: Sean (Sara) Lillis and Brooke (Matthew) Shefers of Cedar Rapids, Kacey (John) Boone of Blairstown and Andy Lillis of North Liberty; seven great grandchildren; a sister: Wilma Dane of Columbus, Ohio and a sister-in-law: Maria McDonald of North English. Alta was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1982, son Timothy in 1971, son-in-law Peter Williams in 1998, a brother Charles Wade McDonald and two sisters: Cleopha Hradek and an infant LaRene McDonald. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Monday, June 18, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamsburg. Fr. Edmond Dunn will preside. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7:00 pm at the Uhlmann-Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Williamsburg where there will be a prayer service at 6:30 pm. Memorials are for the Staff Fund at Colonial Manor.
