VAN HORNE: Floyd H. Dunbar, age 86, died Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab Center where he had been a resident since December of 2004. A Graveside Memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown with Rev. David Lindenberg officiating. Graveside Military Rites conducted by Thomas F. Bevins American Legion Post #146 of Van Horne. A Memorial Fund has been established. Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone is in charge of arrangements. Floyd was born April 24, 1920 at Marengo to Harold E. and Gladys (Lacher) Dunbar and graduated from the Marengo High School in 1940. He served his nation in the Army during World War II. On July 4, 1945 he married Edith "Edna" Fabb at Swindon, England. Floyd worked in the Tool and Dye department at Iowa Man and Collins in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church and the Thomas F. Bevins American Legion Post #146 of Van Horne. Floyd took great pride in his garden. He is survived by his children, Charles (Jan) Dunbar of Houston, TX; Valerie (Greg) Lebeda of Van Horne; seven grandchildren, Kim Yarger of Austin, TX, Drew Dunbar of Houston, TX, Doug Lebeda of Denver, CO, Tyleen Lebeda of Van Horne, Brandon Dunbar of Vinton, Nick Dunbar of Cedar Rapids and Amanda Merritt of Cedar Rapids and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edna and son Pete both in 2006; two sisters, Clara Bennett and Helen Schmahl and his brother Fred Schrader.
