Harold Lloyd Bailey, age 80, died Saturday, July 29, 2006 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral Services: 10:30 A. M. Tuesday, August 1, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church, Marengo with Rev. Eric Nygren officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Monday, July 31, 2006 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.

He is survived by his wife Brooksie, six children, Curtis Casper Bailey (Denise) of Marengo, Jeri Lynn Springman (Barry) of Alburnett, Joe Glynn Losch (Diane) of Cedar Rapids, John Francis Losch (Donna) of Florida, Joan Rae Ondler (Corky) of Marion, and Jim Henry Losch ( Sharon) of Marion; 13 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition, he is survived by two brothers, Dick Bailey (Joan) and Cliff Bailey (Linda) of Potosi, WI. and his many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Helen Meyer (Charlie) of Guttenberg, Gladys Gohde (Clarence “Bud”) of McGregor, and Grace Hoffman(Laverne) of Rockford, IL, and two brothers, Robert of Clayton and Raymond Bailey of Bagley, WI.

Harold Lloyd Bailey was born May 27, 1926 in Clayton, Iowa, the son of Henry Casper Bailey and Jeannette Meade Bailey. He received his education in the Clayton schools and graduated from McGregor High School in 1944.

Harold served in field artillery in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1952 during the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of corporal. He married Brooksie Watts on July 28, 1975 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Harold was employed at National Oats in Cedar Rapids for 38 ˝ years, retiring in 1991.

He was always known for his sense of humor, and enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and his camping trips back to Clayton. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandson Alex.
