VINTON: Phyllis Irene Faas Bauer, age 78, died Friday, July 7, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids of natural causes. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, July 10, 2006 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton with Rev. Clarke E. Frederick and Vicar Dan Lepley officiating. Committal Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Phillips Family Center, 605 2nd Ave, in Vinton from 4:30 to 7:30 PM on Sunday. A memorial fund has been established. Phyllis was born July 9, 1927 at Millersburg to Floyd and Irene (Hinrichs) Faas and graduated from Marengo High School in 1945. On December 19, 1948 she married Eldon Carl Bauer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Millersburg. The couple farmed and raised their family near Walker until retiring and moving to Vinton in December of 1994. Eldon preceded his wife in death on May 19, 1997. Phyllis was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she enjoyed membership in the Fireside Club, Quilters, Mission Circle and LWML. She was also a member of the Lutheran Home Auxiliary. She is survived by her children, Rev. Dennis (Susan) Bauer of Cedar Falls, Nancy (John) Strauser of Cedar Falls, and Marlene (Doug) Loftsgaarden of Robins; her grandchildren, Benjamin (Christy) Bauer of Texarkana, TX, John (Eryn) Bauer of Marion, Joseph Bauer of Decorah, Jacob and Elizabeth Bauer, Michael and Adam Strauser, all of Cedar Falls, and Jeffrey and Ryan Loftsgaarden of Robins; her siblings, Robert (Pat) Faas of Millersburg, Marilyn Pruess of Clarence, Richard (Doris) Faas of Cedar Rapids, Donald (Elaine) Faas of Ames, Ruth Ann (Charles) Gorsh of North English, and Rev. Esther Dant of Arden Hills, MN; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Gary.
