Doris M. Allerdice Harder, age 71, died Thursday, July 6, 2006 at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Amana following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, July 10, 2006 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th Street, in Vinton, with Rev. David Snyder officiating. Committal Services will be held at 2:30 PM, on Monday at the New Sweden Lutheran Cemetery north/west of Lockridge. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th, in Vinton from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday. A memorial fund has been established for the Newhall First Responders and the Central Presbyterian Church in Newhall. Doris was born January 7, 1935 at Lockridge, Iowa to Alex and Violet (Engwall) Allerdice and graduated from the Fairfield High School in 1953. She then attended the Burlington School of Nursing, and served as a Registered Nurse at Keosauqua Hospital and at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She retired in 1993. Doris was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Newhall, the Rebecca Circle, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Vinton Country Club. She was an avid golfer and bowler. Doris is survived by her husband, Carl of Newhall; her children, Alan (Karen) Harder of Indianola, and Kate (Scott) Pantel of Iowa City; her grandchildren, Denise, Matthew and David Harder, and Cassandra Pantel; and her brother, Jim (Joann) Allerdice of Fairfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Norma Allerdice and her niece, Salena Allerdice.
