HENRY EHRMANN, age 85, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 30, 2006 at the Middle Amana Community Church with Elder Elly Hoehnle officiating. Burial will be in the East Amana Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday, June 29, 2006 at the church. Memorials may be contributed to the Amana First Responders or the Amana Church Sunday School. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife Marie, two sons, Carl and wife Debbie of Amana and Paul and wife Susan of Hughson, CA; a daughter, Kris Ehrmann of Amana; 8 grandchildren, David and Bobby Ehrmann, Darcy, Carrie, and Jacob Ehrmann, Nick Kleinmeyer and wife Lindsay, and Kimberly and Andrew Kleinmeyer. Also surviving are two brothers, George and wife Ruth of Amana and Richard and wife Leona of Frankfurt, Indiana; a sister Henrietta Schwarting of Middle Amana, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Alfred and Walter “Pete”.
Roy Henry Ehrmann was born August 1, 1920 in West Amana, Iowa, the son of Fred and Ida Schoenfelder Ehrmann. He received his education in the Amana Schools and served in the U.S. Army from 1942-45. He married Marie Schaefer on September 25, 1948 in Cedar Rapids. Roy was employed at Amana Refrigeration as a shipping foreman from 1940 until 1982 when he retired. He then worked part time at Krauss Furniture from 1983 until 2003.
Roy loved his grandchildren and spending time with the family. He was a real “people person”. Roy enjoyed attending Iowa football games with his brother and best friend, George. He was a member of the Amana Church Society, the Amana Retirees and was active in caring for the East Amana Cemetery. Roy was also Quartermaster for the Boy Scouts.
