William L. “Bill” Fry, age 72, of Williamsburg died following a short illness on Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, June 19 at the First Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg. Burial with Military Rites will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday at the church in Williamsburg. Memorials may be given to the William Fry Memorial Fund. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo is in charge of arrangements.

William Lee Fry was born on April 18, 1934 in Iowa City the son of William F. and Dolly M. Waterhouse Fry. Bill attended Marengo Schools and served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Hancock from 1952 until 1956. While in the Navy he met Joy Eglinger, and they were married at the North Chapel of the San Diego United States Naval Base on June 4, 1955, a marriage that lasted for fifty-one years. In 1956 they moved to Iowa where Bill worked in Highway Maintenance for the Iowa Department of Transportation for thirty-three years. He was a member of the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church, a life member of the Williamsburg VFW and a fifty-year member of the Marengo American Legion.

Bill enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, taking care of the Super Suds Car Wash and fixing anything mechanical. He loved his grandchildren and his family.

His family includes his wife, Joy of Williamsburg, daughter, Kim Fry and fiancé Steve Brees of Rushville, Indiana, son, Tod Fry and fiancée Leanne Chipman of Williamsburg, daughter, Lynnette and husband, Larion Yoder of Williamsburg; his grandchildren, Jonathan Kolosik of North English, Jenni Kolosik of Tiffin, Jacob Schlesselman, Alaysia and Briley McAtee all of Williamsburg and a step-grandson Bowen Yoder of Williamsburg. Also surviving are siblings Gene and Doris Fry of Marengo, DeWayne “Doodle” Fry of Belle Plaine, Herbert and Bobbie Fry of Williamsburg, Lucille Ferneyhough of Sedalia, Missouri, Shirley Possehl of Amana and Nellie Patterson of Marengo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Dolly, one brother, Harold “Pick” and three sisters, Betty, Ruby and LeVera.
