BLAIRSTOWN: Johanna "Jo" Hilda Wichman, age 89, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at the Solon Nursing Care Center in Solon following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 29, 2006 at Grace Lutheran Church in Blaristown with Rev. Michael Musick officiating. Interment will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown. Friends may call at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Blairstown from 5 to 7 P.M., on Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established for Grace Lutheran Church. Jo was born June 30, 1916 at Good Thunder, MN to Edward and Anna (Furler) Wiebold. She attended school in Conroy and on January 2, 1936 she married Martin C. "Mike" Wichman at Conroy. The couple made their home on a farm near Blairstown for several years before moving to a farm near Van Horne. Mike preceded his wife in death on December 26, 1994. Jo was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown. She loved to sew and was known for baking delicious cookies. Jo is survived by two daughters, Velma (Loren) Thompson of Springfield, MO, and Brenda (Dennis) Lindeman of Fallbrook, CA; her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Michelle (Mike) Kennedy of Iowa City and their children, Megan, Ryan and Katie, Melissa (Kent) Schrof of West Des Moines and their son Grant, Laurie (Jeff) Willhite of Minneapolis, MN and their children, Noah and Greyson, Mark Wichman of Cedar Rapids and his daughter Sydney, and Bret (Jennifer) Lindeman of San Diego, CA and their children, Nicholas and Andrew; her sisters, Vonnie (Ed) Wilhelmi of Atkins and Gloria Stenzel of Marion; and two brothers, Gordon (Lillian) Wiebold and Ed "Eddie" (Pat) Wiebold all of Blairstown. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Edward Wichman; a granddaughter, Valerie Thompson; and two sisters, Lillian and Velma Wiebold. The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to the staff of the Solon Nursing Care Center and Iowa City Hospice.
