Carrie Lucille Carter Bolton, 94, of Silver Pines Residential Community, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 2, 2006, in the care center surrounded by family members. Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday, Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Carroll Brown. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia (Robert) Munsell of Cedar Rapids, and Roberta (Clyde) Meyer of Monticello; three sons, Robert (Barbara) Bolton of Pioneer, Calif., John (Patricia) Bolton of Cedar Rapids, and Warren (Patricia) Bolton of Phoenix, Ariz.; a grandson, John Morgan, whom she and her husband raised, 12 other grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Harford; a brother, Donald (Evelyn) Wilkinson; and a special niece, Betty Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband; three sisters; and a great grandchild, Andrew Heit.

Lucille was born Feb. 28, 1912, at Yankee Point, Iowa, the daughter of Warren U. and Ressie M. Carter. Lucille, her given name, started her education in the local one-room country school. Later she moved to Cedar Rapids to seek employment and completed her education in the Cedar Rapids Public School System.

She married Roy E. Bolton in Cedar Rapids in October 1933.Lucille was a devoted wife, caring mother and loving grandmother who dedicated her life to the support of her family. She was employed as the manager of the S & H Redemption Center and later by FMC. She was a longtime member of the Cedar Rapids Business Women's Club. She enjoyed demonstrating her exceptional culinary skills, crocheting and working picture puzzles.

The "Rock" of the Bolton family, she will be greatly missed not only by her surviving family members but by a host of friends as well. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Luke's Hospice.
