Edith Fern Fancher Baugh, formerly of Cedar Rapids, peacefully passed away Thursday, April 27, 2006, in Hayden Lake, Idaho, after a short illness. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 6, at 1:30 p.m. in North English Cemetery in North English, by the Rev. Don Ridenour.
Fern was born Sept. 20, 1912, at home on a farm near North English, Iowa, the daughter of Orson and Esther Kirkpatrick. She lived in and around North English most of her life. On May 20, 1937, she married Elroy Fancher and to this union they had a son, Richard, and a daughter, Barbara. They farmed west of North English until Elroy passed away in 1964.

Later Fern married Gerald Baugh and they moved to Cedar Rapids, where she worked at Washington High School, Margaret Morse Boutique as a seamstress and later was self-employed by doing alterations out of her home until her retirement. She was an active member with Calvin-Sinclair Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards, sewing, doing crafts and most of all spending time with her family and friends.

Her family includes a son, Richard Fancher (Kimberly) of Hayden Lake, Idaho; a daughter, Barbara (Bill) Jilovec of Mechanicsville; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Fancher, David Fancher and Phillip (Angela) Fancher, all of Arizona, Brett (Laurie) Jilovec of Mechanicsville, Brenda (Jeremy) Brimeyer of Cedar Rapids; four great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Terry Baugh (Lorna) of Amana and Judy (Jack) Blackman of Pittsburgh, Pa.; seven stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy (David) McClellan of Wellman; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Kirkpatrick of North English; a former daughter-in-law, Barbara Sparrow Fancher of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orson and Esther Kirkpatrick; her two husbands, Elroy Fancher and Gerald Baugh; sisters, Evelyn Reynolds, Maxine Baugh and Roxine Ruegsegger; brother, Keith Kirkpatrick; brothers-in-law, Irvin Reynolds and Orville Ruegsegger; and nephew, Robert Kirkpatrick.
