Warren Ewing Patterson
(March 14, 1891 - April 26, 1941)

Warren Patterson passed away at his home on South Main Street Saturday, April 26 at 2 o’clock a.m., after an extended illness. Warren Ewing Patterson, son of Thomas and Ellen Patterson, was born in Cloud County, Kansas, March 14, 1891, and at the time of his death was 50 years, one month and 12 days of age. The early part of his life was spent near Melvern, Kans. He was united in marriage with Della Branscom at Melvern on November 22, 1916 where they continued to live until coming to Ida County in September 1919. They have lived in and around Ida Grove since that time. They were engaged in farming until two years ago. Mr. Patterson had been in ill health the past three years and bore his suffering patiently and without complaint. He leaves to mourn his death his widow and three children, Mrs. Cletus Bond, Ida Grove; Mrs. Andre Young, Danbury, and Warren Jr. at home. Also two grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Dave Turner, Melvern, Kans., Mrs. Mila Souders, Topeka, and Mrs. R. J. Branscom, Turon, Kans.; and a brother Alfred, of Melvern, Kans. Funeral services were conducted at Moore Bros. Funeral Home Monday at one o’clock p.m. with Rev. H. E. Whyte officiating. Hugh Ford sang “Shadows” and “Sunrise Tomorrow” accompanied by Miss Mabel Walter. Interment was made in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Pall bearers were Ward Krick, Ervin Perkins, Tom Phillips, Leonard McShane, Leonard Ripert and Hans Hansen. Those from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Branscom, Mr. and Mrs. Francis Zeidler and daughter, Mrs. Mila Souders, Topeka, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Roby Branscom, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Fluke, Turon, Kans.; Alfred Patterson and Mrs. Dave Turner, Melvern, Kans.; Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Thornhill, Storm Lake; Mr. and Mrs. John Branscom, Fort Madison.
