Albert Christie
(February 29, 1868 – April 26, 1941)

Albert Christie, son of Henry and Catherine Christie, was born at Austin, Ind., February 29, 1868, and passed away at his home in Ida Grove Saturday morning, April 26, at seven o’clock after a lingering illness of several months. He was 73 years, 1 month and 26 days of age. He became a member of the Methodist church when a young man. He was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Burk in 1892 at Austin, Ind. Six children were born to this union, two passed away in infancy and Albert Bernard at the age of 22 years. Mrs. Christie passed away in 1924. Surviving are three children, Henry Lytton, June Oakley and Mrs. Leland Nordell, eight grandchildren, one great grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Ida Hall of Austin, Ind. Funeral services were held at Moore Bros. Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock with Rev. H. E. Whyte officiating Mrs. Ben H. Todd and Mrs. Grover Moore sang “In the Sweet Bye and Bye” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” accompanied by Mrs. Ronald Courtright. Interment was made in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Pall bearers were Joe Monroe, Frank Williams, Roy Mitchell, Henry Stamp, Ward Krick and Joe Hartgenbush. Source – Ida County Pioneer Record, Ida Grove, Iowa, Thursday, May 1, 1941, p.1
