Obituary of Mrs. George Watson
Lucy May Watson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George P. Collins, was born in Galva Township, four miles west of Galva, on May 4, 1884, and passed away in the hospital at Rochester (where she was taken for treatment) on the 29th of August, being 56 years, 3 months and 25 days of age. When a small child she moved with her parents to a farm near Schaller. On June 29, 1906, she was married to George T. Watson and lived on a farm joining the one her parents owned, until her death. Her husband preceded her in death about 18 months. She graduated from the Schaller high school and took a course in music at Buena Vista College, from which she graduated also. She leaves four children to mourn her departure, all were with her at the time of her death. Mrs. Chas. McIntosh of Sac City, Margery, John and George of Schaller, John and George of Schaller, and two grandchildren, Beverly Jean McIntosh and Gerald Thomas Watson, her mother Mrs. Emma Collins, and sister, Elizabeth Collins, and sister, Elizabeth Collins, Schaller, and a brother, Frank Collins of Arpin, Wis. All who knew her loved her and she will forever be remembered as a friend. Mrs. Chester Currie and Mrs. Franken sang. Many beautiful flowers were given. The Knowler Funeral home had charge, Rev. Nelson of the Presbyterian church officiated, and burial was in the Schaller Cemetery. Source – Ida County Pioneer Record, Ida Grove, Iowa, Thursday, September 12, 1940, p.9
