Obituary of Michial Petersen
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for Michial Bernhardt Petersen, who died at his home in Schleswig Thursday noon, May 30. Services were held at the home at 1:30 and at the Frieden’s Evangelical church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. A. F. Rinne in charge. Mr. Petersen was born January 29, 1866 in Norway. As a child he was baptized and in 1881 was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. In 1886 he came to America and settle in Aurelia, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Miss Lena Johnson on March 11, 1891. Two children were born to this union, Bertha Mrs. Wassink of Rodney and Juia, Mrs. Olson of Tacoma, Wash. Mrs. Petersen passed away when the children were small. In 1902 Mr. Petersen came to Schleswig to work in the elevator. He was united in marriage to Miss Catherina Lorenzen during that year Mr. and Mrs. Petersen had one son, Louis, who died of flu in 1913. Left to mourn his death are his wife, two daughters, 13 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Tallakson of Sioux City and Mrs. Ohnana Edwardsen of Norway and many friends.
