John W. Young

Obituary
John W. Young, son of Louis and Mary Young was born at Austin, Ind., June 28, 1877 and died at Cherokee, December 28, 1946. He had attained the age of 69 years and six months. Mr. Young never married. During his life time he had lived and worked at various places throughout the United States. He was one of four brothers, two of whom preceded him in death. One brother, Cleve Young, survives. Also his sisters-in-law, Mrs. Kate Carr, of Austin, Ind., and Mrs. Olga Young, of Mankato, Minn., six nieces and one nephew survive. Funeral services were held at Moore and Christensen Funeral home on Wednesday, January 1 at 2 p.m., Rev. Thos. B. Collins officiated at the service Mrs. Collins sang “One Sweet Solemn Thought” and “Abide With Me.” Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marvin Mitchell, Roy Mitchell, Joe Monroe, Randall Monre, Donald Engelking and Cleo Brown. Source – Ida County Pioneer Record, Ida Grove, Iowa, Thursday, January 9, 1947, p.8
