Frank Juelfs
(May 12, 1870 – August 30, 1946)

Obituary
Frank Juelfs, son of Jake Juelfs, and his wife Adeline Hein, was born on May 12, 1870, at Dickinson, Ill., and passed away at his home on August 30, 1946 at the age of 76 years, 3 months, and 19 days, being a victim of cancer. As a boy, he came with his parents to Iowa, living first at Lake View and then in Silver Creek Township. On January 13, 1897 he was united in marriage with Emma Ludwig. This couple became the parents of 7 children, the youngest, Harry Franklin, passing away at the age of 13 months. After leaving Silver Creek, the Juelfs lived on farms south and west of Ida Grove. In 1908 they moved to a farm near Cushing, where they lived until 1923, when they retired to their home in Ida Grove. The departed is mourned by his wife, Emma, 6 children, John of Correctionville, Mrs. Lena Hargens of Meriden, Mrs. Meta Ewoldt of Holstein, Anson of Cushing, Walter of Galva, and Mrs. Bernice Endrulat of Battle Creek. He leaves also 21 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Henry of Hot Springs, S. D., George of Dalton, Nebr. And Anson of Ralph, S. D., also 3 half brothers, Fred of Gilmore City, Iowa, and Dick and Bill residing in S. D., also 2 half sisters, Myrtle and Annie, living in Idaho and Montana respectively. Mr. Juelfs was received as a child of God in infancy through the Sacrament of Baptism. It was not until the past Spring, however, that he renewed his baptismal vow, when on Easter Sunday April 21, after previous instruction, he became a communicant member of St. Paul Lutheran church through the rite of confirmation. During his long illness, his pastor visited him often and always found him an attentive listener to the Word of God. He never failed to add his “Amen” to the pastor’s prayers. Repeatedly he confessed his faith in the only Savior, Jesus Christ, and just before the day of his death declared himself [bend in page, text illegible] who had redeemed him from his sins. We are certain tha this departed soul has found eternal peace with Christ. His text was Psalm 17:15 “As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied, when I awake with thy likeness.” Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Moore and Christensen funeral home and at 2 p.m. in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Rev. C. H. Pauling officiating. Vi Lois Nordell and Irma Wissink sang “For Me to Live is Jesus” and “Abide With Me.” Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery at Battle Creek.
