Emil Schneider was born on the Island of Fehmarn. Schleswig, Holstein, Germany, April 17, 1876. He was the son of Henry Schneider and his wife, Katherine, nee Kohl Stricken with a heart attack near his home he died about six o’clock Monday evening, August 26, 1946, at the age of 70 years, 4 months and 9 days. While still in his native land, Mr. Schneider was received as a child of God through Holy Baptism, and later renewed his baptismal vow through confirmation in the Lutheran Church. He joined St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Ida Grove some years ago. At the age of 17, Mr. Schneider immigrated to the United States, working during the first years in Ida and Crawford Counties. In 1906 he moved to the farm 3 ˝ miles south of Ida Grove, where he resided until the time of his death. On September 2, 1903, he was united in marriage to Marie Knudsen. This union was blessed with six children, namely Hans of Charter Oak, Katherine at home, Edward of Schleswig, Dorothea (Mrs. J. H. Lynn of Chicago), Louise, who died in infancy, and Albert of Ida Grove. He is survived by his wife, five children, seven grandchildren, one sister, Agnes in Germany, and one nephew, Henry Heiduck of Ida Grove. Two brothers, Johannes and Edward and two sisters, Elizabeth and Mrs. Dora Heiduck, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran church with Rev. C. H.Pauling officiating. He used his text, Psalms 143-2, “Enter Not into Judgement with Thy servant; for in Thy sight shall no man living be justified.” Vi Lois Nordell and Irma Wissink sang “Rock of Ages” and “Abide, O Dearest.” Interment was in the Ida Grove Cemetery.
