Peter Albert Lage

Peter Albert Markus Lage, son of Henry and Helen Koeppen Lage, was born at Triton, Nebr., April 24, 1892, and passed away in the Sioux Valley hospital in Cherokee Wednesday, November 5. 1952 at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 12 days. He had been in the hospital 8 days

Mr. Lage came to Iowa with his parents when he was 5 years of age. The family first lived in the vicinity of Jolley, Iowa, moving to Holstein about the year 1905. He farmed with his parents until about 1927 when he took up the blacksmith trade. He had operated his blacksmith shop here in Holstein for about 25 years.

Mr. Lage was baptized in the Lutheran faith on June 26, 1892, by Pastor C. Meyer.

Surviving to mourn his passing are one brother, Emil Lage of Spencer, and one sister, Mrs. Herman Libke of Holstein, two nephews and one niece; and other more distant relatives.

Funeral services were conducted at the Hansen Funeral home in Holstein at 2 o’clock Friday, November 7 by the Rev. Forrest E. Flowers of the Holstein Methodist church. Vocal solos were rendered by Auggie Goettsch who sang “Abide With Me,” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere,” with Mrs. Cleo Hamil at the organ.

Pallbearers were Howard Goettsch. Elvie Fick, Lester Ellerbusch, Henry Goettsch Jr., Rudolph Arp and Gus Beuning. Interment was in the Holstein cemetery.
