Obituary – Ida Prussing
Schleswig – Funeral services for Ida Prussing were held Monday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. The congregation sang, “Nearer, My God to Thee,” and the choir sang “For Me to Live in Jesus.” Mrs. Ray Schmidt accompanied them on the organ. Rev. F. A. Wiese read the following obituary:
Ida Louise Auguste, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Heinrich Reincke, was born in Germany on the 6th of July 1870 and baptized on the 7th of August 1870. She was brought to America by her parents. The family first settled in Michigan, a short time later they moved to Iowa. She was confirmed at Trinity, Grant Township, by the Rev. G. Haar. In Iowa the family settled in Otter Creek Township. She was married on May 30, 1900 to Jurgen Prussing. The couple lived for three years on a farm in Morgan Township, then bought the 80 acres in 1903 southwest of town, where their son, Henry, still resides. The couple retired to Schleswig in 1930. Her husband, Jurgen, died June 1, 1950. Since his death, she has stayed at her home in town as long as she was physically able. Since last August, she has been staying at her sons home. She died here early on Good Friday. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jurgen, four brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by her two children, Henry of Schleswig and Martha, wife of Willie Jacobs of Denison, one grand child, and three great grandchildren. She attained to 85 years, 8 months and 24 days. Burial was made in Grant Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Louie Reincke, Mortiz Reincke, Harold Reincke, Otto Rehmke, Max Hollander and Henry Hollander.
