Rites Held For Mrs. Leonard Abbe
Funeral services for Mrs. Leonard Abbe were held Tuesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. The choir and congregation sang “I’m But A Stranger Here,” and “Rock of Ages.” Rev. F. A. Wiese read the following obituary:
Stella Marie Louise, daughter of Edwin Meyer and Emfa Maas was born September 1, 1912 near Ricketts, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Soldier Township by the Rev. Von Glemmingen. She grew up in the Ricketts vicinity. On September 20, 1936, she was united in marriage to Leonard Abbe. They have one daughter, LaJoyce. The couple lived on farms in Grant and Hayes Townships, and for the past 14 years on a farm northwest of Schleswig. Mrs. Stella Abbe was a member of the Home makers club and the V. F. W. Auxiliary. She underwent surgery a year and a half ago and since that time grew steadily worse. She died at the Carroll hospital Saturday, February 11 at 3 p.m. She is survived by her husband, Leonard, her daughter, LaJoyce, both of Schleswig; her mother, Mrs. Emma Meyer of Mapleton; five brothers, Edward and William of Mapleton, Elmer of Anthon, Herbert of Ricketts, Lewis of Oto. For a number of years she held membership in the Imanual Lutheran Church. She was very patient and uncomplaining during the long months of her illness. Burial was made in the Morgan Cemetery. The following served as pallbearers: Merlin Stockfleth, Delphin Bruhn, Roger Paulsen, Adolph Maas, Max Maas Jr. and Herman Nedermeyer.
