Mrs. Pete Bendixen, nee Antonie Haba, was born September 16, 1878, at Wahoo, Nebr., and departed from this life May 29, 1954, at the Denison hospital. She reached the age of 75 years, 8 months and 13 days. She was united in marriage to Pete Bendixen on February 9, 1899. They lived for sometime at Page, Nebr., and Salem, Ore., and then returned to Schleswig to make their home. Mrs. Bendixen’s chief interest in life was her home, and she enjoyed doing fancy work. She came from a family of three sisters and two brothers. About four months ago she became ill and it was discovered that she suffered from cancer of the hip. She was taken to Iowa City for treatment. There she had the misfortune to fall and break her leg. After a short time she returned to her home and the past three weeks was a patient at the Denison Hospital. She leaves to mourn her death her life’s companion, Mr. Bendixen, besides other relatives and friends. Burial was made in the Morgan Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Wm. J. Petersen, Raymond Bendixen, Hugo Brus, Roland Struck, James Else and Victor Struck.
