Funeral Services Held Tuesday Afternoon at Methodist Church
Emmett E. Barnes, son of William and Samantha Barnes, was born in Scott County, Ind., July 7, 1877 and passed at his home northeast of Ida Grove Friday, October 4 at 11:30 o’clock. He was united in marriage to Ruth McKinney on May 24, 1914. They lived in Scott County for nearly a year and in February, 1915, they came to Ida County to make their home on a farm to which he gave his entire time and energy. His health began to fail about two years ago, and he went to Rochester Sunday, Sept. 29, for an examination and treatment. After returning to his home the following Tuesday he continued to grow weaker until the end came on Friday.
He leaves to mourn his passing his widow, two sisters, and one brother, also many friends. Funeral services were held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist Church with Rev. H. E. Whyte officiating. Burial was made in the Ida Grove Cemetery under the direction of Moore Bros.
