Mrs. A. Barthel Dies Wednesday
Funeral Services Will Be Held Saturday at Lutheran Church Here
Mrs. Adolph Barthel, 57, passed away at the home of Mrs. John Rehse Wednesday morning, April 17 about 6 o’clock. Olga Penning Barthel, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Theo Penning, was born May 1, 1882 in Ida Grove and lived her until the spring of 1919. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was a faithful member as long as she resided here. She was employed for 15 years as saleslady in the Rohwer Mercantile Store.
Married In 1912
She was united in marriage with Adolph Barthel, November 3, 1912 and they resided on a farm near Ida Gove until 1919 when they purchased a farm near Tyler, Minn, which has since been their home. One daughter, Lorraine, was born to this union who, with the husband, survives. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. Mrs. Barthel sustained a stroke of paralysis on June 2 of last year which rendered her almost helpless. The past winter Mr. Barthel disposed of his stock and farm implements and brought his family to Ida Grove to reside with hopes of Mrs. Barthel making some recovery. They have resided with his sister, Mrs. John Rehse since. Funeral services will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. E. C. Zschoche officiating. Interment will be made in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Pall bearers will be J. H. Geerken, Wm. Bugge, Louis Jensen, C. E. R. Fuester, Charles Seidler and H. A. Roepke.
