Services Held For C. W. Jensen At Ida Grove
Funeral services were held Thursday, December 30, at 2 o’clock for Chris W. Jensen of Sioux City, at the Moore-Christensen funeral home in Ida Grove [line missing]… of Sioux City officiated. Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris Henning and Sam Blackstone of Sioux City, Charles Yousling, Jens Graversen, John Macklem and Dewey Menter of Ida Grove.
Chris W. Jensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Jensen, passed away suddenly at this home Monday evening at the age of 62 years and one month. He was born near Harlan, Iowa, November 29, 1886, where he spent most of his boyhood. He, with his parents, moved to Ute, living there until 1903 when they came to Ida Grove. He was a member of the Church of God at Ida Grove. December 9, 1906 he married Lizzie Wigand of Ida Grove. They had two children. They farmed south of Battle Creek and in Ida County until 1936 when they moved to Sioux City where he has followed the carpenter trade. Mr. Jensen took a deep interest in his home and family and through his kind disposition was loved and admired by all children. He spent some of his happiest hours with his grandchildren. Survivors are his widow, a son, Carl C. of Sioux City, and a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (LaVera) Hilker, of Ida Grove; three grandchildren, Sharon and Cheryl Jensen and Jimmy Hilker; three brothers, Alfred of Cherokee, Henry and Ray of Los Angeles, and two sisters, Mrs. Carrie McKay and Mrs. Anna VanGriethuysen of Ida Grove. He was preceded in death by his brother, Elmer and his sister, Lena. Those attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Henry, Mrs. Ray Jensen, Huntington Jensen, Burbank, Calif, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Jensen, Mrs. Louisa Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Jensen of Cherokee; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Olsen and Mr. and Mrs. Otis Withrop and family of Harlan; Mr. and Mrs. George Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Clock of Soldier; Mr. and Mrs. Marinus Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney March of Mapleton; Elmer Wallace, Mrs. Louis Hacker, Nate Goldis, Mr. and Mrs. Art Albrite, Daryl Johnson and Miss Tess Sanford of Sioux City.
