Burdell Herbert Vohs
(September 20, 1924 – November 26, 2020)

BATTLE CREEK - Services for Burdell “Pete” H. Vohs, 96, of Battle Creek will be held at a later date, due to COVID-19 restrictions. Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home in Holstein is in charge of arrangements.
Burdell Herbert Vohs was born Sept. 20, 1924, to Herbert and Viola (Stofferahn) Vohs on a farm northeast of Holstein. He attended country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Holstein High School in 1942. Burdell entered the U.S. Army in 1944 and served stateside until the end of the war. Then, he farmed with his brother, Will. On Oct. 8, 1950, Burdell married Helen Jensen at St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. He continued farming southeast of Holstein until 1953, when they moved to a farm northeast of Battle Creek. He raised cattle, hogs and grain until 1976, when he and Helen moved to Battle Creek. Burdell then worked for the U.S.D.A. for a few years, in addition to doing some carpentry work in and around Battle Creek.Burdell was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Holstein. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, golfing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Burdell and Helen spent many winters in Texas, traveled throughout the U.S. and took several vacations to Canada and Europe. He died Nov. 26, 2020, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.
Burdell was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; a brother, Wilbert Vohs; a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Martha Vohs; two brothers-in-law, David Jensen and Vernon Jensen; and a sister-in-law, Katherin
e Palmer. Bur He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen; three nephews: Kenneth Vohs of Hopkins, Minn., Rodney Vohs of Round Rock, Texas, and Greg Vohs of Medford, Minn.; a niece, Cynthia (William) Maaske of Woodbine; and a sister-in-law, Frieda Vohs of Holstein.
