Demise of Mrs. Bertha Treiber
Expires Soon After Return from Sioux City Hospital. Garfield Notes
Southwest Garfield Township, Oct. 29 – This vicinity were shocked last Wednesday morning when it learned about the death of Mrs. Bertha Treiber, Sr., in Danbury. Mrs. Treiber was in a Sioux City hospital receiving treatments several weeks ago. When she returned home she was feeling fairly well. Bertha Treiber was born in Hesen, Germany in 1853 and came to this country in 1870. In 1874 she was married to Adam Treiber. They lived in New York City two years, when they came to Iowa in 1876 locating in Monona County on a farm about three miles south of Danbury. They continued to live there until 25 years ago, when they moved to Danbury, where she now resided. Her husband preceded her in death February 27, 1930. Mrs. Treiber passed away Wednesday morning, October 22, at the age of 77 years. She was a kind mother and very patient during her illness will be missed greatly by all her relatives and friend. She is survived by three daughters. Mrs. Mayme Mensinger of Vulcan, Canada, Mrs. Kate Otto and Mrs. Anna Bowers of Danbury, and eight sons, who live in or near Danbury; Charles, John, Anthon, George, Fred, August, Adam and Louis. She also leaves one living sister, Mrs. Woehler of New York, who attended the funeral, also a brother who lives in Germany. All children attended the funeral.
