Death Removes Wilbur Boyer of Arthur, After Long Illness. Other News.
Arthur, Iowa, June 25 – Wilbur Boyer passed away at his home last Friday afternoon, June 20, at one-thirty. Mr. Boyer had been in poor health for the past 10 years and death came as a result of lingering illness. He had seemed somewhat better the past months, but took a sudden turn for the worst about ten days ago, although the end came rather as a shock to the family. His faithful wife and two daughters were at his bedside and he slipped quietly and peacefully into his eternal rest. Charles Wilbur Boyer was born on April 16, 1865 in Jo Davis County, Illinois, and passed away at his home in Arthur, June 20, 1930, attaining the age of 65 years, 2 months and 4 days. He was united in marriage February 2, 1888 to Mary C. Shoop, establishing their home in Ida County. To this union seven children wre born, Charles O., Ernest W., Winifred E., Zella M., now deceased, Zadie L., Howard W., and Clyde E. He is survived by his wife, six children, seventeen grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters. Mr. Boyer was a pioneer resident of Ida County, coming here at the age of 14 years and spending the most of his life in this county. He was a member of the M. W. A. Camp No. 327 of Odebolt. He was a loving husband and a kind father and followed the religious teachings of his father, Rev. I. E. Boyer, one of the first Church of God ministers in Ida County. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. Stanley Kruschwitz, at the late home at 2:00 p.m. and in the Arthur M. E. church at 2:30 p.m. Burial was made in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Pall bearers were Andrew Gilbertson, Will Ford, John Neal, J. J. Smith, Dave Edgar and Fred Noll, members of Arthur M. W. A. Out of town relatives and friends attending were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest W. Boyer and family of Jackson, Minn., Will Shoop of Castana, Ill., Mrs. Annie W. Kennedy and daughter, Doris of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Kennedy of Sioux Falls, S. Dak., Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Kennedy of Waterbury, Nebr., Mrs. Elmer Hanson and daughter Bernadine fo Aurelia, Mrs. J. S. Brown and son Rush of Superior, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Brown Jr., also of Superior, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Joy of Sioux City, and Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Tubbs and son Ronald of Ida Grove.
