Schable, Carl Louie Sr
1876-1960
Carl Louie Schable Sr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Schable, was born October 5, 1876 in Germany. He came with his parents to the United States at the age of 15. The family settled near Ida Grove. He married Fredia Wedfenbach March 29, 1908 near Ida Grove. They farmed in Ida Grove vicinity before moving to the Danbury community. In 1938 they retired and moved to town, where he lived for the remainder of his life.He was the oldest child in the family of three. Mr. Schable was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran church of Mapleton. He died Sunday, Oct. 9, 1960 at his home after a long illness. He had reached the age of 84 year and 4 days.
Survivors include the wife Freida; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur Krueger of Charter Oak, Mrs. Julius Jepsen of Correctionville and Mrs. Lester Land of Gowrie; two sons, Carl Jr. and Louie of Danbury; a brother, William of Sioux City, and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 11, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran church here with Rev. E. E. Greene officiating. Pallbearers were: J.K. Granter, Anton Boysen, Estel Tuttle, Tom Albers, Edward Krueger and Henry Mehrings. Burial was in the Ida Grove cemetery under the direction of the Walter Funeral Home.
