M. Lucille Bennigsdorf, age 91, of Ida Grove, Iowa,died Thursday, March 30, 2000,at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 3, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, with Rev. John Schauer and Rev. Michael Saylor officiating. Burial followed in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Visitation was held on Sunday at the Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.

Born July 30, 1908, in Crawford County, Iowa,Lucille was the fourth child of Albin and Alice (Wells) Carlson. She was from a family of six boys and six girls.

Lucille graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1926, then taught in country schools near Schleswig, Iowa. On October, 17, 1928, she married Herbert Benninsdorf in Denison. Lucille and Herbert farmed until 1958 in areas of Crawford, Monona and Ida counties. In 1959, the couple made their home in Ida grove. They were blessed with ten children, and in 1978, celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. Lucille was a resident of Morningside Rehab and Care Center since 1991.

In addition to her ten children, Lucille was devoted to her 38 grandchildren, 91 great grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Special memories were made in August of 1999, when the entire Bennigsdorf family gathered for a wonderful family reunion at Estes National Park in the Rocky Mountains.

Lucille loved children, and after raising her own family, was a babysitter in Ida Grove for 29 years. She was known to the children she cared for as "Grandma B". Lucille was a kind and concerned caregiver and was loved by all.

Survivors include nine children and their spouses, Dorene and LeRoy Wonder of Galva, Robert and Mariene Bennigsdorf of Arvada, Colorado, Leila and Bernard Lansink of Ida Grove, Vernon and Edith Bennigsdorf of Delta, Colorado, Ruth and Earl Dean Schmidt, Darrell and Marlene Bennigsdorf and Russell and Clara Bennigsdorf,all of Ida Grove, Carol and Maynard Miller of Atlantic, Lonnie and Marva Bennigsdorf of Battle Creek, and daughter-in-law, Sharon Bennigsdorf of Ida Grove; 36 grandchildren; 91 great- grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Florence Jones of Ute, Lois Adams of Charter Oak and Edna Blunk of Denison; one brother and his wife,Robert and Margaret Carlson of Denison; and two sisters-in-law, Clara Carlson of Denison and Ella Mae Carlson of Ute.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert on April 8, 1981; one son, Gary on February 3, 1989; two grandchildren Diana (Wonder) Schoeppner and Todd Bennigsdorf; three great-grandchildren, Sara Schmidt, Timothy Hawks and Emily Bennigsdorf; five brothers, John Carlson and his wife, Violet and Charles, Earl, Nathan and Beryl Carlson and two sisters, Ethel Hesse and Delores Kruger.

Pallbearers were Lucille's granddaughters.
