FOR DR. MIESNER

Dr. Allen W. Miesner was born on August 12,1952, in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Lela Wischmeier Miesner. He died on Saturday, November 12, 1982, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital, Denison, Iowa, at the age of 30, the result of a motor vehicle accident near Charter Oak, Iowa.

Dr. Miesner was raised on a family farm near Ida Grove, Iowa. He received his early education in the Ida Grove Public Schools. He did his under graduate work at Iowa State University and later entered the College of Veterinary Medicine where he graduate in 1977.

On December 29, 1976, Allen was united in marriage to Joy Peters at the Mountain View Lutheran Church in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In August of 1977, they moved to Schleswig, Iowa, where he established a private practice.

Dr. Miesner was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. At the time of his death,he was president of the congregation. He was also a L.Y.F. group leader and taught Sunday School. He was also a past president of the Northwest Veterinary Medicine Association.

Dr. Miesner was preceded in death by a brother Donald L. Miesner.

Survivor include, his wife Joy of Schleswig, two sons, A.J and Judd both at home in Schleswig, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Miesner of Ida Grove, by his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Emma Wischmeier of Lincoln, Missouri and one sister, Karen Miesner of Ida Grove. Also surviving are his mother and father-in-law and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 16, 1982, at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. Burial was in the Morgan Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Wiegert officiated at the services. Hymns for the service included, "Asleep in Jesus", "I Knew That My Redeemer Lives", "A Hymn of Glory Let Us Sing" and "Lift High the Cross".

Serving as pallbearers wer Dr. Doug Schullce, Dr. Ted Smith, Loren Schultz, Henry Kolls Jr. Dale Edsen and Gene Ernst.
