Mrs. Arthur Petersen, 37, Ottosen, died unexpectedly of a heart attack in her home Thursday evening, January 13. She had been scheduled to undergo heart surgery soon.

The former Maxine Thacker, she was born at Emmetsburg and was reared there and at Gilmore City, where she graduated from High School in 1946. She then attended Morningside College at Sioux City, and married Arthur Petersen at Rutland in 1948. They farmed in the Rutland area for three years, then, while her husband was in the service, she worked in Des Moines. After his return, they lived at Gilmore City for two years and since then farmed south of Ottosen.

Mrs. Petersen was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Lutheran Church Women. She was secretary of the church and a Sunday School teacher. She was also president of the American Legion Auxiliary at Bode.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Rutland, Monday, January 17. The Rev. Robert J. LeMont officiated and the casket bearers were: John R. Hanson; Tome Peters; Leo Diederich; Erling Malmin; Dr. Allen Slekmeir; and Neal Olson.

Surviving are: her husband, three children, twins (boy and girl), 5 and a son, 2; her mother, Mrs. Paul Thacker of Osage; three brothers and one sister, Paul Thacker Jr., Spencer, James Thacker, Gilmore City, and Mrs. Ray Bummer, Mount Vernon, Washington.
