Services for Mrs. Ralph Skaugstad were held from the Humboldt First Lutheran Church on Tuesday afternoon, March 3, 1942 at 2:00 P.M., with Rev. O.B. Anderson and M.B. Tollefsrud of Bode officiating. The hymns "Lead Kindly Light", "Wonderful Morning" and "Abide With Me" were sung by Mr. and Mrs. O. Clifford Anderson and Ragnhild Engdal as accompanist.

The great number of floral tributes and memorial gifts reveals the place that she occupied in the hearts of all. The memorial gifts given to different projects amounted to $205.

The obituary read at the service read as follows:
Mrs. Ralph A. Skaugstad(nee Albie Tufte) was born at Ottawa, Illinois, October 26, 1900. After a lingering illness, she went to sleep in the Arms of the Lord Saturday morning, February 28, 1942 at the age of 41 years, 4 months and 2 days. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Ottawa, Ill. The church occupied an important place in her life, and she faithfully devoted herself to the work of the church, being an active member of the Humboldt First Lutheran church.

In 1921 she was united in marriage to Ralph A. Skaugstad and they were blessed with seven children, one daughter Alicia dying in infancy. She is survived by her husband, four daughters, Juane, Roberta, Garnet and Phyllis, and two sons, Dean and Charles; three sisters, Mrs. William Rollo of Huntington Park, California, Mrs. Karl G. Rundstrom of Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. Glen Wilkinson of Wedron, Illinois, and three brothers, Bert Tufte of Minooka, Illinois, Julian Tufte of Riverton, Utah, and Russell Tufte, who is, at present, in the army, supposedly stationed at Trinidad Islands. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Tufte and five brothers preceded her in death.

After their marriage they lived in Bode until 1935 when they moved to Humboldt where they have been engaged in the funeral business. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Humboldt chapter.

The family has requested that we dispense with much of a eulogy as all who knew her, knows that her life speaks for itself. A tribute was sent to her while she was living by Marie Vaage of Bode, Iowa expresses that sentiment: "To me you have always been an "Ideal". "Strange", you say. Yes, perhaps, it is, but true nevertheless. i have always thought of you as the "Ideal Mother". You are always so patient, unassuming, soft spoken and quiet. My desire in life has been to be a mother like you."

Another poem that meant so much to her while she was sick was sent to her by Mrs. Ray Wogen, "In your illness angels guard you Pillow prayers your God doth hear; At the lonely hour of midnight, Christ, your Friend, is always near. Trust him then in all conditions, Face the future unafraid; Hope in God with faith unyielding, often bring the needed aid. Build your faith on firm foundations, God still lives upon His throne, and His presence gives assurance That we never are alone. When you chance to be discouraged, Wond'ring if someone does care, Just remember God is Father, As His child you are His heir.."

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts your thoughts." (Isa55:8-9) Blessed be her memory.

Interment was at the Bode Cemetery.
