Oline Kinseth Lomen was born in Nordre Land, Norway on September 18, 1857. Her parents were Lars and Olea Kinseth. She was baptized and confirmed at the Nordre Land church. Her mother died when she was nine years of age. Her father remarried and came to America - to Bode, Iowa in 1878. Oline followed the next year. On the 31st of December 1882 she became the wife of Knut Lomen, who survives her and mourns her death along with her step-mother, Mrs. Nels Holm. Mrs. Lomen is the mother of seven children, all of whom survive her: Louisa (Mrs. Geo Lillo) of Lengby, MN; Julia (Mrs. Henry Halvorson), Gena (Mrs. Lars Mitsven), John, Henry and Clara all of Bode and Oscar of Clear Lake. She leaves also 13 grandchildren, two full brothers: Andrew and Lauritz both of Bode, three half brothers and four half sisters.
Mr. and Mrs. Lomen were among the very first settlers in the village of Bode. Mrs. Lomen has been less well for a number of years, but patient and cheerful. Her last illness was of a short duration, only four days. Death called her Thursday, January 26 at 9 o'clock a.m.
In her memory the family is sending $10.00 to heathen missions that the Savior she loved may find his way into some heathen home and heart.
