LIVERMORE - Funeral service for Amalie "Molly" Groh of Livermore, 96, was conducted by the Rev. John M. Dreyer at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Livermore. Interment was in Union Cemetery with the Wilson Funeral Home of Livermore in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were Dale Frederick, Ronald Frederick, Katherine Janssen, John Groh, Jerry Groh and Timothy Jaeger.
Amalie Chott , daughter of George J. and Catherine E. Rusch Chott, was born Sept. 23, 1896 at Grimm, Russia. She was confirmed in the Lutheran Church and received her education in Russia. Amalie and her father immigrated to Maywood, IL on 1912.
She was married to John J. Groh at Melrose, IL Dec. 22, 1917. The couple lived at Maywood until moving to Kanawha, IA in 1912. They moved to Renwick in 1928 and in 1932, to the Livermore area where she later became a naturalized American citizen.
Mr. and Mrs. Groh farmed until 1943, then moved into Livermore and operated the Figuroa Restaurant and Ballroom. They moved to LuVerne in 1958. Mr. Groh died in 1963 and Molly returned to Livermore to live. She became resident of the South Care Center at Humboldt sevral years ago and died there Friday, Set. 25 (1992).
Mrs. Groh was a charter member of the Immanual Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid and a member of Friends and Neighbors Club.
She is survived by one daughter, Lydia, Mrs. Alvin Johnson of Hardy; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Her husband, sons Carl and John; her parents, two brothers and three sisters are deceased.
