OBITUARY:
Robet Conwell died very suddenly at his home in this place Friday night, May 22, 1914. He had been ailing for a few days but no serious results from his in disposition was anticipated. He was feeling
fine ale vening and slept peacefully up to a few minutes of his death. Robert Conwell was born April 6, 1838, at Gratiot, Lincoln County,Ohio and came to Iowa July 4, 1863. He was married to Margaret Campbell September 15, 1865 at Maquoketa, Iowa moved to Humboldt County in the spring of 1895 from Jones County. There was born to this union three children: Emma O. Day, of Gilmore City; Arthur L., of Humboldt; and Mary E. Hamersly, of Gilmore city, Iowa. He leaves a wife and three children, 14 grandchildren, 1 brother and 1 sister. He was a kind husband and father who will be sadly missed.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home attended by a large number of friends and family. Rev. TB Collins of Fonda preached the sermon and a quartette furnished the music. The body was
lain to rest in Marble Valley cemetery. Relatives from a distance were: John Conwell, a brother, and Fred Penfold, nephew of Carbon Iowa and Mr. and Mrs. John Heide of Fulton, Iowa the latter being a sister of Mrs. Conwell.
