Eunice Dale, 84, of Bode, died May 27 (2004), in Trinity Regional Medical Center at Fort Dodge. Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 5, in Union Cemetery at Humboldt with memorial services at 11 a.m. in the United Methodist Church at Livermore. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Bode is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Dale is survived by her daughter, Marcia Malmin of White Fish, Mont.; a son, Mark Dale of Bode; two grandsons and their wives, Ryan and Shannon Malmin and Nathan and Kelly Malmin; one grandson-in-law, Dr. Steve Eckert; two great-grandsons, Walker and Jonah; and two great-granddaughters, Ande and Kaysie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan; her granddaughter, Lisa (Malmin) Eckert; her parents and her brother, Gordon DeGroote.
Eunice DeGroote, the daughter of Clarence and Sadie (Nellis) DeGroote, was born January 19, 1920 at Rutland, Iowa. She attended country school and graduated from Humboldt High School. In 1940, she and Ivan Dale were married at the Little Brown Church in The Vale at Nashua, Iowa. The couple farmed near Rutland and later moved to Bode where they owned and operated Dale's DX Service Station for many years. Eunice was employed at the Chrischilles Department Store in Algona until her retirement.
Eunice was a member of the United Methodist Church at Livermore where she had served as a trustee and a member of the church council. She dearly loved her family and friends, baking, her flower garden, and was an avid baseball fan.
