Joe P. Fouarge, 74, died Friday, August 20 (2004), in the Humboldt Care Center North at Humboldt.

Funeral service for him was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Faith United Methodist Church at Humboldt with the Rev. David Hobbs officiating. Burial was in Indian Mound Cemetery, the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt in charge of funeral arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, of Livermore; sons, Anthony, Oxnard, Calif.; Danny, Algona; John, Rochester, Minn.; Robert of Thor, a daughter, Ginette Richardson, Algona and two special step-daughters, Michelle Lewis of Spencer and Alesia Humpal, Humboldt. He has several grandchildren and step-grandchildren and a sister, Monica Behnkendorf of Bode, nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marie Thorson and Martha Ristau.

Joe P. Fouarge attended school at St. Joe and Livermore. After his schooling, he worked for area farmers and did tiling with his father until 1950 when he joined the U. S. Army. He served in Luxemburg and Germany. Following his discharge from the military, Joe was a bus driver for Collins and Greyhound. He later became employed with the Bradgate Quarry and P&M Stone, which later became Weaver's and Martin Marietta. Joe retired after 42 years as a loader operator.

He was united in marriage to Linda Davenport in the Faith United Methodist Church at Humboldt on March 30, 1991.

Joe enjoyed gardening and doing yard work, watching Westerns, bird watching, visiting with family and friends and the company of his Scottish Terrier dog, Maggie. Joe was a member of the Livermore American Legion and Sathers-Odgaard VFW Post.
