LIVERMORE - Leila M. Taylor, 90, of Livermore, died Dec. 25, (2000) in the Methodist Manor Care Center at Storm Lake. Funeral service for her will be held Friday, Dec. 29, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. in the United Methodist Church at Livermore with the Rev. Dale Reisner officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Harris Funeral Home at Livermore, which is in charge of the arrangements.
Casketbearers are Kenneth Hauck, Steven Hauck, Robert Hauck, Darwin Taylor, Jeffery Graybill, Daniel Graybill and Allan Kannenberg.
Leila Millen Taylor, the daughter of George and Effie Millen Hancock, was born Feb. 12, 1910 at Plainview, TX. At the age of three, she moved with her family to Chariton, IA where she was raised and educated. After taking normal training courses in high school, she taught in the rural school in Lucas County.
In March of 1930, she was married to Thomas F. Taylor at Chariton, and in 1948 the couple moved to Humboldt County. She helped her husband on the farm from 1930 until 1947, and then they operated a restaurant in Rutland for 15 years before moving to to Livermore in 1976. Leila moved to Storm Lake in October of 1966 where she lived with her son, Norman, until entering the Methodist Manor in May, 1999.
She taught Sunday School for many years and held many other church offices; was a member of the United Methodist Church and Friends and Neighbors of Livermore; and enjoyed crocheting, reading and sewing.
Survivors are her children: Norman and Susan Taylor, Storm Lake; Norma and Wally Hauck, Livermore; Harvey G. and Jean Taylor, Fernandino Beach, FL; Freida and Albert Sherrill, South Sioux City, NE; Frank and Jane Taylor, Brandon, SD; and Barb and Gary Kannenberg, Warland. WY. There are 19 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and eight step-great-great grandchildren. Other survivors are a sister, Esther Peterson of Escondido, CA, and a brother, Noel Hancock of Longmont, CO.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Thomas, in December, 1978; a grandson, Keith Taylor; and a sister, Adda Mae Stelter.
