Anna Mathilda Olson Monson was born at Lodi, WI, June 26th, 1863, where she spent her early girlhood. In 1874, she, her sister Josephine, (Mrs. E.J. Erickson) and her father immigrated in a covered wagon to Bode, Iowa. The mother and 5 children coming by train.
On July 4th, 1886, she was united in marriage to M.O. Monson. To this union ten children were born: Marie, who preceded her to the grave, Albert, DeLloyd, Arthur, Theodore, Ada and Mrs. Grace Saxton of Bode. Mrs. Gladys Walkner of Hardy; Mrs. Thelma Thompson of Detroit MI, and Otto of Redfield, S.D. These nine with the husband are left to mourn her death.
In her later years, her health failed and all early help possible was given, but July 30th she was compelled to go to her bed, the span of life was about run, and on the morning of August 28th, her Maker called her home.
Mrs. Monson was a member of the Lutheran Church, a devout Christian and God-fearing woman, teaching the true principles of Christianity in her daily life, a true example for her children to follow.
The funeral services were conducted by Prof. Tingelstad of Decorah and Rev. Ullensvang of Thor, on Monday afternoon.
Interment was made in the Lutheran Cemetery. SOURCE: Bode Bugle 9/4/1925
