Laura H. Welter, 84, died Saturday, Sept. 8 2001, in the North Care Center at Humboldt.
Funeral service for her was held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Livermore with the Rev. Dan Greving officiating. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, the Harris Funeral Home of Livermore in charge of funeral arrangements.
Casket bearers were Chuck Welter, Dave Welter, Jesse Welter, Duane Thilges, Andy Thilges and Frank Welter.
Laura Helen Schaller, daughter of George and Susan Marnach Schaller, was born Nov. 7, 1916, in Garfield Township of Kossuth County, IA where she was raised and educated.

She married Francis Welter October 10, 1942 at Aberdeen, MD. The couple farmed near Somers, IA until 1948 when they moved to a farm northwest of Hardy. In 1977, they moved to an acreage near Livermore where they lived until becoming residents in the North Care Center at Humboldt in 1992. Her husband died in 1993.

Laura was a homemaker and worked at the Post Exchange while at Aberdeen. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild at Livermore.

Laura is survived by a son and daughter, Delmer Welter, Livermore and Darlene Ekwall of Bedford, IN. One brother and two sisters also survive; Delmer Schaller, Fort Dodge; Margaret Thilges, Rolfe and Mary Welter, Rochester, MN. Her husband, parents and brothers, Raymond and Lauren, preceded her in death.
