Isabelle Ann Berte, 88, died Thursday, Aug. 23 2001, in the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital at Humboldt.

Funeral Mass for her was celebrated by Father Paul Eisele at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph Catholic Church at St. Joe. Burial was in the parish cemetery, the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Service of Algona in charge of arrangements.
Casket bearers were Jeff Albrecht, Eric, Matt, Doug and Kurt Berte and Dan Birkett.

Isabelle Ann, daughter of Mathias and Katherine Hilbert Kellner, was born in Humboldt County, IA, Sept. 3, 1912. She was raised in the St. Joe area where she attended school.

Isabelle was married to Joseph Berte Nov. 6, 1934 in St. Joseph Catholic Church at St. Joe. They farmed northeast of St. Joe their entire married life.

Isabelle enjoyed gardening, sewing and quilting. She loved to spend time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
` She is survived by her husband, Joseph, and nine children; Sylvester and Karen Berte, LuVerne; Cecelia and Bob Birkett, Fort Dodge; Joseph and Linda Berte, Fort Dodge; Lorine and Charlie Albrecht, Renwick; Gerald and Jeanne Berte, Livermore; Helen and Charles Kuker, Long Prairie, MN; Don and Sandy Berte, Raleigh, NC; Mathias and Cindy Berte, Bode and Monica and Dennis Vaske of Bancroft. There are 34 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

One sister, Loretta Thilges of Algona, also survives. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Arnold, Edward and Cyril Kellner
