The Rite of Christian Burial for Henry D. Pfeffer, 88, was celebrated by the Rev. Dan Greving at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, in the St. Benedict Catholic Church. Burial was in the parish cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Hagg-Turner Post 90 of the American Legion and VFW Post 2451. The Wilson Funeral Home of Algona was in charge of arrangements.

Henry D. Pfeffer, the son of Michael and Anna Thilges Pfeffer, was born May 22, 1915 near Livermore, IA. Henry was married to Verna Eischen on July 30, 1945 at St. Benedict.

Henry Pfeffer died Saturday, March 20 (2004) in the Hancock County Memorial Hospital at Britt.

He is survived by his wife, four sons and two daughters, Craig and Barb, Burt; Mark and Karen, Henry, Jr., Luke and June, all of Algona; Norma and John Murphy, Lynn and Dick Miller, Algona. There are 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, a step great-grandchild.

Other survivors include a brother and two sisters, Francis and Alice, Titonka; Henrietta Tucker and Marie Muller, Algona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, infant granddaughter, four brothers and three sisters, Michael, Lawrence, John and Walter, Anna Green, Agnes Witham and Elizabeth Ludwig.
