3-28-1912OBITUARY OF H. J. SHELDON
Mr. H. J. Sheldon was born July 9, 1832 In Essex county, New York. Came west to Wisconsin in 1835. Married to Jane Henderson at Columbus, Wis., November 17, 1856. Lived there until 1857, when they moved to Clayton county, Iowa; from which place the came to Wright county near where Renwick is now located, in 1877, and lived there until they moved to Springvale (now Humboldt) in 1871. In the meantime, Mr. Sheldon had enlisted in 1864 In Co. K. 15th Iowa Vol., 17th Corps, and was with Sherman on his famous march to the sea. He was discharged in 1855. To Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon four children were born—Louis who died at nine years of age; Mary, who died at three; Joseph H. and Mattie B. who together with the mother survive to mourn the departure of a devoted husband, loving father, respected soldier and citizen from our midst. The funeral service was held at the Congregational church of which he was a member on Saturday afternoon. The burial took place at Union cemetery and the service there was conducted by Albert Rowley Post G. A. R. of which he was also a member. The remaining
members or the family have the earnest sympathy of a large circle of friends.
