Obituary
The death of Rufus Sanderson occurred last week Tuesday, Sept. 20th at ten a. m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Warren Hunt. Mr. Sanderson was born in Malne in 1831, thus making him 96 years old the third of September. He came to Kossuth county in 1855 and was married to Martha Martin in 1867. Three children were born to them, Nelson, who died in 1895 a son dying in infancy and Mrs. Bertha Hunt who lives In Livermore. He leaves six grand children and five great grandchildren. He inlisted in the Civil War [Co. A., 32nd Iowa Infantry] in 1862 and served until the close of the war. He was a member of the Post until it was disbanded. He claimed the honor of being the oldest resident in Humboldt county. He was a good father, neighbor
and citizen. The funeral was held at the Methodist church on Thursday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. Roberts delivered the funeral sermon, assisted by Rev. Clifton of West Bend. He was buried in the family lot in the Union cemetery [Livermore].
